Rumbles from the depths
I haul into the hostel on Saturday night, completely and utterly boned. I’m ready to sleep for a million years, until the vines enclose the castle or at the very least until 7am tomorrow when Susanne is supposed to wake me by ringing my non-ringing phone which I have surreptitiously hidden deep in my bag where I can’t see, hear or feel it. I’m all set to sleep in. Brill.
I am jolted awake at about 2am by the worst earthquake I’ve heard since last year in Akashi. It’s still going. Shit shit shit, fuck. Sit up and look around, still half asleep. The Kiwi guy in the bunk opposite me is also sitting up. We look at each other. This is no earthquake, this is the guy in the bunk underneath snoring.
Deep rippling snores, low groaning snores, staccato machine-gun snores; this guy had a full and vibrant repertoire. After not sleeping for most of the night, I took a video in the morning. Enjoy: MVI_3467.AVI
