Kurashiki
Kurashiki is a little town about 10 minutes west of Okayama whose main attraction is a restored canal area featuring a stack of traditional storehouses. I headed out there on Tuesday (national holiday) with Susanne after crashing at her place in Aioi on Monday night (it’s about 1 and bit hours to her place from mine, and another hour and half on to Okayama). Nice to just chill out and do some sightseeing and it did turn out to be a wonderfully relaxing day. We found a wicked place that did freshly made Udon and I had one of the best traditional Japanese lunches I’ve had in a long while; cold udon with dipping sauce (and raw quail egg) and fresh tempura. Amazing.
