Tokage

One of the greatest things about living in Japan is you become totally ambivalent towards anything even related to a natural disaster. For example, yesterday, the only reason I didn’t walk through “the biggest tropical storm to hit Japan in more than a decade” to buy some milk is because I’m lazy, rather than any percieved danger to my person. Then there’s Monday, while I was playing X-box there was a scene in the game where a plane came crashing through the treeline and suddenly the whole room started shaking, the first thing that flicked through my brain was “wow, this game is really realistic” rather than “OH HOLY FUCK WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE”. When you hear on the news that Kobe has disappeared beneath the waves, don’t worry about me, I’ll be the one admiring the view from the crest of the Tsunami.
