Meeting Rati in Kyoto
Sunday I braved the impending Typhoon and headed into Kyoto to meet Rati with the gang. 50 minutes on the JR special rapid from Kobe and a revitalising Starbucks trip later, we were all ready to hit the road. From Kyoto station we bussed up to Ginkakuji (Silver pavilion temple, although not actually silver) and then walked from there down the path of philosophy (a path next to a stream, very little actual philosophy, suprisingly enough) to Nanzenji.
Feeling like we’d seen enough old buildings and green hills we tromped around looking for a bank/atm/person on the street that would actually give me money. It being nearly 4pm on a Sunday this was hideously complicated in the way that only dealing with Japanese ATMs can be. Money procured, more coffee drunk, cocktails sampled and foreign food bought, it was time to head home.
