Light Blue Day

One of the greatest (and funniest) advantages about this whole cross cultural, internationalisation thing is just how gullible some people are. Today, Dave and I rocked up to school wearing nearly identical light blue shirts and black pants. So, given that today was fairly slow, we managed to convince about half the English department that today was ‘light-blue day’, an age-old holiday celebrated in order to honour our hard-working (and very colour coordinated) ancestors.

According to rituals observed on this day (which, incidentally, is almost as important as Christmas) the only way to avoid the horrendous bad luck that follows if you somehow forget to wear light blue is to stand at 3pm with one hand over your nose and hold your breath for a minute. I’m sure they would have done it too, if we hadn’t blown the gig by pissing ourselves laughing at about 2.30.

May 19th, mark it in your calendars.
